the times they’re a-changin’ / june 17, 2004 / 21:32
ok. the times at id-as.com are really changin'.
this site provided by a certain web designer from moscow, russia (aka andrei smirnov) is gonna go bilingual. it'll happen as soon as the author finds a volunteer able to translate the copy (written presumably in english by default) into russian. (well, it'll happen a bit later actually.)
why english? because i do believe there's some interest outta the russian borders in getting some info right from inside this particular country. and from people involved in modern web design at that.
to prove the above said i'll give just one link. and will add that the translation system mentioned by vlad treats the russian language incredibly funny. at least this was the case at the time vlad's entry was published. and i happened to read (with tears in my eyes) the english translation of this id-as.com page.
well. the russian version has been available since last year's august. it'll move to ru.id-as.com most probably. while the english one will occupy this original space at the root of the site.
the process will sure take some time and will be hopefully finished by the end of the summer. until then i'll try to post in both languages but not that often. the main menu and the submenu on the right will stay russian until its links lead to the actual english-speaking content.
and again. i'll need a volunteer to translate the entries into good and literary russian. since september this year, that is. so if you feel the power to command those naughty cyrillic characters and build the sensible phrases out of them, here's the mail. a successful candidate will also have a solid command of valid xhtml coding and ability to maintain the russian portion of the blog.
finally. can't help mentioning two super events crowning the coming weekend.
quentin tarantino presents “kill bill vol. two” tomorrow at the moscow international film festival.
paul mccartney plays live the center of saint-petersburg, the russian's second biggest city.
i won't see quentin but i sure will dance to “back in the ussr” in saint-petersburg!

the above is the first english language entry published at id-as.com. if you want to read the id-as.com archive (in russian only) go to ru.id-as.com.
