well. andrei smirnov's not dead. nor is his personal space at id-as.com.

the thing is a whole month has passed since the last entry the times they’re a-changin’ was published here. it seems to be the longest interval in the short (11 months actually) history of the site. and it was the long and winding month…

here's the sad news (at least for me). the month in question witnessed the break-up between me and my girl. well, my wife, actually.

i won't go into any details on that, but i'd say during the five and a half years of our marriage we both failed to be the husband and the wife to each other. and i was the first to perform this ugly failure at the very beginning of our relations…

to follow this sad thing i have to confess that we even sort of screwed up our stay in saint-petersburg with the so anticipated gig of paul mccartney in the program. you know, even paul doesn't help when your heart and mind are unbalanced (don't know english well enough to pick a better word).

ok. irina, i wish you all the best in your life. hopefully you'll experience the happiest thing a human being is capable of experiencing — to love and to be loved.

'nough said on that, though.

cleanup time

it's high time we turned to the bright side of life here. to find out, for example, that the bilinguality (is there such word in english?) of the site has finally started to take shape. frankly, the shape is pretty abstract yet and can't be perceived with any of the known human senses. but the process has begun and there's nothing to stop it anymore.

hopefully, it will imply not only providing the real bilinguality of the site but also include some fresh visual add-ons and other interesting ideas.

one of the strange things can already be seen here. look at the last three entry titles (including the one you're reading): goodbye, yellow brick road, the times they’re a-changin’ and today's (just like) starting over with the cleanup time as a subtitle. anyone more or less familiar with the history of rock music will definitely exclaim — “why, it's all about elton john, bob dylan and john lennon”.

yes, it is. i don't know how long the tendency to call the entries with the names of popular songs will live here, but the idea seems fun and challenging to me. will every entry be entitled with a song name in the future? it would if enough songs devoted to css and other web standards existed out there. but since this is not the case, the entries on web and graphic design will hardly bear any song titles while the ones on life in general will hopefully go on being known-rock-songs-entitled.

well, the cleanup time has just begun here at id-as.com. and it's begun with cleaning of this designer's mind and soul. not the worst things to start universal personality cleaning, aren't they?
